MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.
Mine Description
The Tiger group is located near the head of Tiger Canyon, approximately 1.25 miles north of Olinghouse (Hill, 1911, p. 105). The workings, consisting of a 600-foot tunnel and a shaft 150 feet deep with drifts at the 75-and 150-foot levels, explore a N. 30° E. trending mineralized fault zone. Vein quartz with pyrite and chalcopyrite occurs in the fault zone. The fault zone forms the contact between a granodiorite porphyry dike and andesite of the Chloropagus Formation.
