Comment (Deposit): QUARTZ VEIN MATERIAL FOUND ON DUMPS WAS VOGGY, CARRYING, FRESH AN D OXIDIZED, PYRITE, CHACOPYRITE IN PODS, CLOTS AND STRINGERS. VEINS WAS COATED FE STAINING
Comment (Workings): INCLINED SHAFT AT HEAD OF MILL; ABOUT 500 FT WEST OF MILL AND SHAFT IS A CUT 100-FT LONG AND 20 FT DEEP, PERHAPS WITH STOPES BELOW
Comment (Geology): COULD BE REMNANT ROOF PENDENT.? MOST ROCKS ARE EXTENSIVELY FRACTURED AND FE STAINED.
Comment (Location): THE PLAYA IS ABOUT 3.5 MILES LONG (N-S) AND NEARLY 1 MILE WIDE ON AVERAGE WITH AN AREA OF 4 SQ MILES.
Comment (Development): BORAX WAS PRODUCED FROM THE MARSH AS EARLY AS 1873, IN 1875 PACIFIC BORAX CO.MOVED ITS PLANT TO FISH LAKE VALLEY FROM COLUMBUS, AND BORATE DEPOSITS WERE WORKED FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS THEREAFTER. OPERATIONS WERE SUSPENDED SHORTY AFTER 1883.
