MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Analytical Data

Analytical Data: ON THE 300 FOOT LEVEL ORE ASSAYED 40 OZ/TON AG AND 5% CU. ONE ANALYSIS THE ORE ALONG THE TEMPEST FISSURE CONTAINS HIGH % OF BI, ASSAYING AS HIGH AS 22% AND AVERAGING 1-2%. AN ASSAY FROM THIS FISSURE, APRIL 7, 1924 SHOWED, .1 OZ AU, 70 OZ AG, 2% BI, 1% PB, 1% CU, 42% FE(?)/TON. (OPEN FILE DATA ITEM 9). ANOTHER ANALYSIS SHOWED .025 OZ/T AU, 17 OZ/T AG, 1.0% PB, 3.5% CU, 1.5% ZN, 28% FE, 8.0% CUO, 2.0% MN.

Materials

Ore: Chrysocolla

Comments

Comment (Location): AREA IS UNSURVEYED ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :(1972)

Comment (Deposit): THE ORE IS AN OXIDIZED AG-CU MATERIAL, OCCURING AT THE INTERSECTION OF TWO FISSURES. THE BULK OF THE ORE TAKEN FROM THE TEMPEST MINE IS TYPICAL OF THE MAY DAY-TEMPEST FISSURE ORES, BEING AN FE-AG-CU PRODUCT. THE PB ORE IS FOUND AT THE INTERSECTION OF THE NORTH AND SOUTH MINERALIZING FISSURE WITH THE TEMPEST FISSURE AS WELL AS ON THE NORTH AND SOUTH FISSURE AWAY FROM THE INTERSECTION. ORES CARRYING THE HIGHEST PB VALUES WERE FOUND AT THE INTERSECTION OF THE NORTH AND SOUTH VEIN WITH THE EAST AND WEST VEIN. STOPES ARE MAINLY ON THE TEMPEST VEIN BUT IN PART ON THE N-S FISSURES NEAR THEIR INTERSECTION WITH THE TEMPEST VEIN. FISSURE IS FILLED WITH CRUSHED LIMESTONE AND GOUGE. IRREGULAR BODIES OF OXIDIZED CU ORE OCCURRED IN THE HANGING WALL. AT THE 150-FT LEVEL, A BODY OF OCHEROUS ORE 4-6 FT WIDE CARRIED SMALL AMOUNTS OF CU CARBONATE.

Comment (Workings): INCLINED SHAFT, 350 FT LONG, WITH FOUR LEVELS, STOPES. SHORT DRIFTS AT THE 60, 150 AND 200 FT LEVEL AND ABOUT 350 FT OF DRIFTING ON THE 300 FT LEVEL

Comment (Commodity): GOLD VALUES ARE CONSIDERABLY HIGHER HERE THAN IS USUAL FOR BRISTOL ORES, AVG. 0004502/T
