Ore: Scheelite
Comments
Comment (Location): AT HEAD OF RED TOP CANYON, ON NORTHERN CREST OF SAND SPRINGS RANGE ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :(1972)
Comment (Production): PRODUCTION YEARS WERE 1941-1947, 1952-1957.
Comment (Development): SEVERAL PERIODS OF PRODUCTION; NO ACTIVITY IN 1986
Comment (Deposit): SCHEELITE-BEARING TACTITE OCCURS ALONG AN ALMOST E-W CONTACT ZONE BETWEEN GRAODIORITE (SOUTH) AND METAMORPHIC ROCKS (NORTH). PROSPECTING AND MINING HAVE OCCURRED ALONG A VERTICAL ENE SHEAR ZONE THAT APPEARS TO PARALLEL THE IGNEOUS CONTACT. NUMEROUS APLITE DIKES (N 60 E, 90) ARE PRESENT IN THE CONTACT AREA. MOST ORE RANGED FROM 0.5 TO 1.0% WO3. AT THE LOWER WESTERN SHAFT, THE SILICATED PORTION OF THE CONTACT ZONE IS NO MORE THAN 3-4 FT THICK AND CONSISTS OF SKARN CONTAINING EPIDOTE, GARNET AND CALCITE WITH MINOR SCHEELITE.
Comment (Workings): 2 SHAFTS, INCLINE, SOME TRENCHING
