The Lower Cache Creek is a gold mine located in Alaska.
About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.
Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Smith, 1938
Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = The drainage has been prospected and mined by various small scale surface methods.
Comment (Geology): Age = Pleistocene.
Comment (Deposit): Other Comments = No data on possible production; see Upper Cache Creek (TL029).
Comment (Exploration): Status = Undetermined.
Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Smith (1938) reports bench placers overlie old stream terraces cut in glacial till in lower Cache Creek. Bedrock is probably continentally derived Tertiary sedimentary strata of the Tyonek (?) Formation (Tts) overlain by glacial drift (Qn) (Reed and Nelson, 1980). A northeast-striking, high angle normal fault is mapped crossing Cache Creek about one mile upstream from this site (Reed and Nelson, 1980). No other published descriptive information is available. No data is available on possible production. ? Also see Upper Cache Creek (TL029).
Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Placer Au-PGE (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 39a).
