Comments
Comment (Deposit): NARROW VEINLETS ALONG JOINT PLANES AND TO A LESSER EXTENT ALONG BEDDING PLANES. IN THE NW PORTION OF THE MINING AREA, A NW-TRENDING WEST-DIPPING FAULT ZONE IN GOLD HILL CONTROLS ORE DEPOSITION. ORE IS ALONG FAULT ZONE IN BRECCIA AND HAS DEVELOPED IN WALLSPLITS. FAULT DIPS 60 W AT SURFACE, BUT FLATTENS AT DEPTH. ORE OCCURS MAINLY IN DRUSY QUARTZ VEINLETS WITH SOME LAMELLAR QUARTZ AFTER CALCITE. OREIS OXIDIZED WIT SOME ADULARIA AND MINOR FLOURITE. GOLD IS FINE-GRAINED, BUT PREDOMINANTLY VISIBLE PARTICLES. THE PREFERENTIAL HOST ROCK IS A SANDY PHYLLITE. ORE ZONE IS OPEN AT BOTH ENDS. IN THE SE PORTION OF THE MINE AREA, ORE OCCURS ALONG A N-TREND FAULT ZONE AND CONSISTS OF SILICIFIED BRECCIA, DRUSY QUARTZ VEINLETS. THERE IS SOME UNIXIDIZE PYRITE NEAR THE EAST PIT AND OLD BIG FOUR MINE.
Comment (Workings): OPEN PIT AND NUMEROUS SHALLOW SHAFTS FROM EARLY 1900'S MINING OPERATIONS; EAST PIT AND WEST PIT.
Comment (Location): JUST SW OF TOWNSITE OF MANHATTAN. UTM TO NEAR CENTER OF CLAIM GROUP. LARGE MINE AREA WITH A NW PROTION AND A SE PORTION. ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :(1972)
Comment (Commodity): SOME OF THE GOLD IS QUITE COARSE
Comment (Development): HOUSTON PURCHASED THE CLAIMS FROM SUMMA CORP. IN 1977. THEY WERE OPEN -PITTING IN 1979, AND COMPLETED MILL IN MAY 1980; MINE WAS ACTIVE IN 1980 , 1981, EMPLOYING ABOUT 50 PERSONS IN THE MINE AND MILL. PRODUSTION SLOWED AND FINALLY HALTED TEMPORARILY IN EARLY 1982 DUE TO LOW PRECIOU METALS PRICES. HOUSTON OIL AND MIN. CO. (LATER TENNELD) WAS TAKEN OVER BY ECHO BAY MINES IN 1986. OPEN PIT MINE WAS OERATION AT TIME OF EXAMINATION IN1986 WITH GRAVITY CIRCUIT AND CONVENTIONAL CYANIDE MILL IN USE FOR GOLD RECOVERY.PEN-PITTING IN 1979, AND COMPLETED MILL IN MAY 1980. MINE WAS ACTIVE IN 1980,1981 AND 1982, EMPLOYING ABOUT 50 PERSONS IN THE MINE AND MILL. PRODUCTION SLOWED AND FINALLY HALTED TEMPORARILY IN EARLY 1982 DUE TO LOW PRECIOUS METALS PRICES.MINE WAS ACTIVE IN 1983 EMPLOYING ONLY 10 PERSONS.MINE WAS ACTIVE IN 1983 EMPLOYING ONLY 10 PERSONS.
