Comment (Geology): GEOL.COM: NUGGET BENCH HIGH CHANNEL IS CUT INTO ARGILLITE OF JURASSIC TO CRETACEOUS AGE; CHANNEL CAN BE PROJECTED BY MAGNETIC METHODS 400 FT BEYOND MINED SECTION ; MAJOR.UNITS: STREAM HEADS IN MESOZOIC SLATES AND GRAYWACKES CONTAINING AURIFEROUS VEIN QUARTZ; LOWER COURSE IN TERTIARY CONTINENTAL ROCKS OF KENAI GROUP. UPPER MEMBER OF KENAI FORMATION IS PREDOMINATELY A SANDY CONGLOMERATE OF WELL ROUNDED, WELL INDURATED COBBLES 2 TO 6 IN IN DIAMETER COMPOSED OF BLACK SILTSTONE, QUARTZ, QUARTZ MONZONITE, GRAYWACKE AND GREENISH WHITE FELDSPAR PORPHYRY; MINOR SILTY SANDSTONE WITH SEAMS OF CLAYSTONE AND SPARSE LENSES OF CONGLOMERATE.
