Comment (Location): USGS MF-371, LOC. 29. COORDINATES REPRESENT MINE MARKED NEAR MOUTH OF TOFTY GULCH ON TANANA (A-2). LAND STATUS VALUE CALCULATED 6-94 USING GIS OVERLAY ANALYSIS WITH BLM 1:2,500,000 SCALE OWNERSHIP STATUS MAP (1991).
Comment (Development): GOLD DISCOVERED IN WINTER OF 1906-07. MINING IN 1909-12, 1917, 1929, 1941, AND 1975. DITCH BUILT FOR OPEN-CUT MINING, 1908. MINED BY WASHING PLANT, 3 BULLDOZERS, AND 2 DRAGLINES IN 1975. PROSPECT DRILLING WEST OF GULCH IN 1941.
Comment (Geology): GRAVEL CONTAINS QUARTZITE AND OTHER EXOTIC BOULDERS. ; MAJOR.UNITS: BEDROCK IS JURASSIC-CRETACEOUS PHYLLITE AND INTERBEDDED GRAYWACKE. BEDROCK CONTAINS MANY QUARTZ VEINS THAT CARRY A LITTLE PYRITE, BUT NO GOLD OR CASSITERITE.
