Comment (Production): ABOUT 12 TONS OF ORE MINED. IN THE FIELD, THE AVERAGE GRADE OF THE ORE BODY WAS ESTIMATED TO BE 40 PERCENT MANGANESE AND 15 PERCENT SILICA. A SAMPLE COLLECTED FOR ANALYSIS FROM VARIOUS PARTS OF THE FACE GAVE MANGANESE, 41.5 PERCENT IRON, 5.5 PERCENT;SILICA, 8.1 PERCENT.
Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: BLACK OXIDE ORE BODY IS NEARLY VERTICAL, ENCLOSED IN DECOMPOSED FELDSPATHIC ROCK, PROBABLY TUFF. SHALE IS INTERBEDDED, AND A ZONE OF CHERT NODULES IS PARALLEL TO THE ORE 2 OR 3 FEET AWAY. JOINTS IN THE FAULTED ORE BODY ARE COATED WITH STICKY YELLOW CLAY OR OCHER.
