Comment (Geology): ORE HOSTED IN FRANCISCAN COMPLEX--L. TO L. ; GEOL.DESC: RADIOLARIAN CHERT IS INTERCALATED IN SANDSTONE OF THE FRANCISCAN GROUP. THE CHERT STRIKES N. DIPS STEEPLY W, AND YIELDS MANGANESE ORE. THE ORE OCCURS AS LENSES IN CHERT, AND IS MOSTLY SOFT, BLACK MANGANESE OXIDE WITH A DULL METALLIC LUSTER. ORE LENSES ARE PARALLEL TO CHERT BEDDING.
