The Dean Claims is a tungsten mine located in Pershing county, Nevada at an elevation of 4,600 feet.
About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Geology): IN THE VEIN AREA SCHEELITE OCCURS IN BRECCIATED ZONES WITHIN THE VEINS AND ON THE VEIN MARGINS, USUALLY ASSOCIATED WITH MANGANESE AND LIMONITIC GOSSAN. THE VEINS STRIKE N 30 TO 50 DEGREES E AND RANGE FROM VERTICAL TO STEEPLY EAST IN DIP. VEIN AREA IS HIGHLY FRACTURED. THE VEINS PINCH AND SWELL ALONG BOTH STRIKE AND DIP RANGING FROM 2 INCHES TO 3 FEET IN THICKNESS. SCHEELITE CONTENT IS ERRATIC. IN THE "TACTITE" AREA IN THE NEXT CANYON SOUTH OF THE VEIN, SCHEELITE OCCURS IN A DISCONTINUOUS E-W STRIKING GARNET-EPIDOTE TACTITE ZONE, UP TO 6 FEET IN WIDTH.
Comment (Deposit): EXPLORATION WITHIN THE DEAN PROPERTY (1971-72, 1975) HAS BEEN CONCENTRATED IN TWO GENERAL AREAS. TO THE NORTH A SWARM OF QUARTZ VEINS CONTAINING ERRATIC CONCENTRATIONS OF SCHEELITE, AND TO THE SOUTH WORK WAS DONE ON A THIN, DOSCONTINUOUS TACTITE ZONE CONTAINING SMALL AMOUNTS OF DISSEMINATED SCHEELITE. VOLUME OR GRADE DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A MINEABLE OREBODY NOR SHOWS POTENTIAL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SIZEABLE TUNGSTEN RESERVES ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV
Comment (Location): UTM APPROTIMATE
Comment (Development): EXPLORATION WAS DONE ON THE CLAIMS FOR TUNGSTEN, 1971-1972, 1975. 1971 EXPLORATION BY NL INDUSTRIES; 1972 BY UNION CARBIDE WHO DID SOME TRENCHING AND DRILLING. NO ACTIVITY IN 1985.
