Comments

Comment (Geology): MN OXIDES ASSOCIATED WITH CALCITE OCCUR AS REPLACEMENTS AND FILL MATERIAL IN FRACTURES AND BRECCIAS IN ANDESITE.

Comment (Economic Factors): 140 MT DAY OF MN CON. TO STEEL MILL AT FONTANA CA.

Comment (Ownership): MINE IS ON BLM LAND. LAND SURROUNDING THE MINE AREA IS BOTH PRIVATE AND FEDERALLY OWNED. PRIVATE LAND IS MOSTLY OWNED BY RAILROAD COMPANIES.

Comment (Production): DISCOVERY IN 1930 WHEN E.F. LOGAN AND L.W. PAGE LOCATED SIX CLAIMS. LOGAN LOCATED 12 ADDITIONAL CLAIMS IN 1952. MINE WAS LEASED TO SUCKOW BORAX MINES IN 1941, AND TO THE GREAT WESTERN CONSOLIDATED MINING AND MILLING COMPANY IN 1952. PRODUCTION WAS REPORTED IN 1934, 1942, 1958, 1959. TOTAL PRODUCTION WAS 705 MT OF 28% MN ROCK.

Comment (Geology): ORE OCCURS IN FAULTED AND BRECCIATED ZONES IN ANDESITE AND ANDESITE BRECCIA. THESE ZONES ARE INTRUDED BY A YOUNGER PORPHYRITIC ANDESITE DESTROYING PART OF THE ORE BODY. TWO NW TRENDING TABULAR ZONES COMPRISE THE LOGAN MINE THE NORTH ZONE STRIKING N70W IS 560M LONG. 80 M OF ITS STRIKE LENGTH IS DESTROYED BY INTRUSION. THE SOUTH ZONE, STRIKING N40W IS 490M LONG, 140M OF ITS STRIKE LENGTH IS DESTROYED BY INTRUSION. THE MAX WIDTH EXPOSED ON OUTCROP IS 35M, AVERAGING 32M. THE MAX THICKNESS EXPOSED IS 21M, AVERAGING 15M IN THE NORTH ZONE AND 18M IN THE SOUTH ZONE.
