Comment (Deposit): 1985 UPDATE. PROPERTY IS INACTIVE. MILL EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN DISMANTLED. HECLA MINING CO. TERMINATED ITS INTEREST IN THE PROPERTY IN 1982. GENERAL LOCATION IS ABOUT 2 KM WEST OF EUREKA. DOMAIN IS PRIVATE AND BLM ADMINISTERED. MINING METHOD IS CUT AND FILL. MILL IS LOCATED ON SITE. EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM MILL.

Comment (Commodity): Ore Materials: silver-lead minerals, native gold

Comment (Deposit): Eureka deposits are replacement veins, chimneys, irregular masses and bedded deposits in Cambrian limestone along fissures and above a thrust fault in the richest area. Igneous rocks are a small quartz monzonite stock and quartz porphyry dikes of early Cretaceous age; intrusive and extrusive andesite of middle Eocene age; and rhyolite plugs and flows of middle Oligocene age. There are abundant sulfide minerals, but the bulk of the production was from oxidized ores.

Comment (Development): It was reported in 1989 press releases that USSRAM Exploration Company started operations in the Eureka district in January at Project Glister. Mining was by open-pit and included processing of old mine dumps. The mine operated as an open pit gold-silver operation in 1989-1990 employing 12 persons. American Mines states that the property is owned and operated by Sharon Steel Natural Res. but states that Sharon Steel was merged with Mueller Industries, Inc. in Dec. 1990.

Comment (Economic Factors): Production from Project Glister in 1989 was 8,450 ounces of gold and 23,519 ounces of silver.

Comment (Identification): Very little information is available about this mine.

Comment (Location): Most of the Eureka Mining District mines are located on several hills on the northeastern flanks of Prospect Mountain at the north end of the Fish Creek Range. UTM is to the general location of the Project Glister Mine. SW of the town of Eureka.

Comment (Workings): Open pit mine on the site of old underground workings and dumps

Comment (Reserve-Resource): MATRIX 1, COL 2, Q-P75 REPRESENTS ORE PROPOSED FOR MINING WITH 100 PERCENT PLUS RECOVERY. DILUTION IN DEVELOPMENT PLANS ONE & TWO WILL BE 20 PERCENT DILUTED WITH ENTIRE QUANTITY IN MATRIX 2, COL 1, Q-P75 LEVEL. MATRIX 2, COL 1, Q-P75 REPRESENTS WASTE, OF WHICH THE EN- TIRETY WILL DILUTE THE QUANTITY OF ORE IN MATRIX 1, COL 1, Q-P75 IN THE PROPOSED MINING METHOD IN U-DEV 1, U-REC 1.

Comment (Exploration): DISCOVERY METHOD-DIAMOND DRILLING. THERE HAS BEEN NO COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION FROM THE DEEP SULFIDE ORE BODY. IN 1975, A 245 MT SAMPLE WAS TAKEN FOR METALLURGICAL TESTING. EXCESSIVE WATER AND METALLURGICAL PROBLEMS HAVE LONG HAMPERED DEVELOPMENT OF THE DEPOSIT.

Comment (Reserve-Resource): DATA IS OLD AND IN NEED OF UPDATE.
