MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Workings): WATER SUPPLY - WATER WOULD PROBABLY HAVE TO BE OBTAINED FROM THE ESCALANTE VALLEY TO THE WEST. SOME WATER MIGHT BE OBTAINED FROM FLOODED PITS NEARBY.
Comment (Production): CONCENTRATE PRODUCED IS ESTIMATED AT 65.0% FE WITH 90% RECOVERY, 52.5% FE FEED GRADE, AND 18536.5 MTPD OUTPUT. IN THE PELLETIZING PLANT, 126.12 MTPD BENTONITE IS ADDED, THEREBY REDUCING THE PELLET GRADE TO 64.56% FE. RECOVERY IN THE PELLETIZING PLANT IS ASSUMED TO BE 100% WITH A FEED RATE OF 18536.5 MTPD AND AN OUTPUT OF 18663 MTPD PELLETS. OVERALL RECOVERY IS 90%.
Comment (Geology): THE EXACT STRIKE AND DIP ARE NOT KNOWN. THE ORE BODY STRIKES GENERALLY NORTH-SOUTH AND HAS A SHALLOW DIP TO THE WEST.
Comment (Reserve-Resource): THIS ORE BODY IS ESTIMATED TO CONTAIN RESERVES OF BETWEEN 100 TO 200 MILLION TONS OF IRON ORE AND, PROBABLY THE LARGEST RESOURCE REMAINING IN THE AREA. SUBSTITUTED FOR IRON SPRINGS BY MODIFICATION #1.
Comment (Deposit): THE PLANT CAPACITY WAS 6630000 MTPY.
Comment (Economic Factors): ALL EXPLORATION WAS COMPLETED IN 1957.
