DEPOSIT IN LEAST METAMORPHOSED YORK SLATE IS VERY THICK SEQUENCE OF CARBONACEOUS QTZ SILTITE WITH BEDS OF GRAYWACKE AND THIN DARK LIMESTONES (C. L. SAINSBURY, 1974, GEOLOGIC MAP OF BENDELEBEN).
