Comment (Deposit): MINING HALTED APRIL 21, 1917 DUE TO CAVE-IN AND FLOODING. MINE WAS ONE OF FOUR IN A COMPLEX. OTHER MINES WERE:700-FOOT TREADWELL, AND READY BULLION. 1886 Mexican Gold and Silver Co. formed. 1891 Alaska Mexican Gold Mining Co. begins work. MILL: 1894 Mexican began with 60 stamps and enlarged to 120 in 1896. 1912-17 30 more were added giving the total of 150 stamps. 1917 the workings were flooded with sea water closing the mine.
