Comment (Location): THE CORRDINATES GIVEN FOR THIS PROPERTY IN THE MILS DATA SET ARE FOR THE CARSON HILL MINE. THE GOLD CLIFF AND MADISON MINES ARE LOCATED WEST OF ANGLES CAMP. CA. APPROXIMATELY AT LAT. N38-04-21, LONG W120-34-15. ADDITIONAL DATA MAY BE FOUND IN DATA SETS WITH THE FOLLOWING SEQUENCE NUMBERS: GOLD HILL 0060090805 MADISON 0060090816 CARSON HILL 0060090746 (NO SUCH MAS SEQ# (11/97):

Comment (Ownership): GOLD CLIFF AND MADISON PROPERTIES ARE PRESENTLY SUBLEASED TO NORTHCLA RESOURCES LTD. OF VANCOUVER, B.C. BY NEW JERSEY ZINC EXPLORATION CO., A GULF AND WESTERN CO. A GENTLEMAN NAMED MONTI VERDI IS REPORTED TO BE THE OWNER OF THE CARSON HILL PROPERTY.

Comment (Reserve-Resource): THERE ARE NO RECOVERABLE RESERVES IN EITHER THE GOLD CLIFF MADISON PORPERTY, NOR IN THE CARSON HILL PROPERTY AS OF SEPTEMBER 1983. DURING 1978, NEW JERSEY ZINC CARRIED OUT A PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION OF THE GOLD CLIFFS-MADISON AREA. 44 CHANNEL SAMPLES AND 108 SOIL SAMPLES WERE COLLECTED ON A RECONNAISSANCE GRID OVER THE PROPERTY. ON THE BASIS OF HESE INITIAL RESULTS AND THEIR EXPERIECNE ON SIMILAR PROPERTIES, NEW JERSY ZINC ASSIGNED A RESERVE POTENTIAL FOR THE PROPERTY TO A DEPTH OF 61 METERS AS FOLLOWS: TONNAGE ANTICIPATED GRADE GOLD CLIFF AREA 900.000-1,500,000 MT 3.25 GM AU/MT MADISON AREA 900,000MT 3.43 GM AU/MT TOTAL 1.8-2,440,000MT 3/32 GM AU/MT AT THE TIME THE CARSON HILL PROPERTY CLOSED IN 1942, IT WAS STATED THAT THE MELONES MINE CONTAINED 853,000MT OF ORE CONTAINING 2.05 GM AU/MT, AND THE CALAVERAS MINE CONTAINED 1,800,000MT OF ORE AT 5.49 GM AU/MT. COMPLETION AND FILLING OF THE NEW MELONES RESERVOIR HAS FLOODED MOST UNDERGROUND AREAS AT CARSON HILL AND IT IS PRESUMED THE UNDERGROUND RESERVES AS STATED ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

Comment (Geology): AT THE GOLD CLIFF MINE, THE ORE ZONE WAS OVER 30 METERS WIDE NEAR THE SURFACE AT ITS NORTH END. THE ORE DEVELOPED AS A THICK CHIMNEY OF SOLID WHITE QUARTZ AND CRUSHED AMPHIBOLITE SCHIST LYING AT THE JUNCTION OF TWO VEINS. GOLD ACCRUED IN THE CRUSHED SCHISTS WITH 65 PER CENT OF THE GOLD ASSOCIATED WITH FINE SULFIDES. THE VEIN WAS ESSENTIALLY BARREN BELOW THE 1900 FOOT LEVEL. THE MADISON MINE IS GEOLOGICALLY SIMILAR TO THE GOLD CLIFF, BUT WITH LOWER GRADE ORE. THE AURIFEROUS CHLORITIC AMPHIBOLE SCHIST WAS FROM 1.5-6.1 METERS WIDE. THE HIGHLY METAMORPHOSED ROCKS OF CARSON HILL CONSIST OF CHLORITE SCHIST, AMPHIBOLITE SCHISTS, AND BLACK PHYLLITE. DIKES OF ULTRABASIC ROCKS SUCH AS GABBRO AND PERIODOTITE WHICH HAVE INTRUDED THE SCHISTS HAVE BEEN ALTERED TO SERPEN- TINE. ORE IS ASSOCIATED WITH FOUR VEIN SYSTEMS. AT THE BULL VEIN, THE ORE WAS NOT IN THE IN ITSELF, BUT IN THE SCHIST ADJACENT TO IT. THE ORE BODIES WERE IRREGULAR IN SHPAE, AND RANGED UP TO 9 METERS IN WIDTH, AND EXTENDED FROM THE SUR- FACE TO A DEPTH OF 1390 METERS. THE AVERAGE GRADE WAS 23 GM AU/MT. THERE ARE 4 FLAT VEINS ON THE HANGING WALL OF THE BULL VEIN. THEY ARE OLDER THAN THE BULL VEIN. THE ORE WAS ABOUT 12 METERS THICK, AND WAS MENERALIZED WITH AURIFEROUS PYRITE. THE PINK FOOTWALL VEIN SYSTEM OCCURRRED AT THE SUR- FACE AS A QUARTZ-STRINGER LODE WITH MINERALIZED SCHIST AND RUNS PARALLEL TO THE BULL VEIN. THE VEIN ORE WAS GOLD-SILVER TELLURIDES. HE CALAVERAS VEIN SYSTEM IS COMPOSED OF BRAN- CHING AND OVERLAPPING PARALLEL STRINGERS OF WHITE QUARTZITE INTERSPACED WITH TALCY GOUGE, TALCOSE SERICITE SCHIST, AND MASSES OF ANKERITE STREAKED WITH MARIPOSITE. THE ORE CONSIS- TED OF GOLD IN QUARTZ AND AS AURIFEROUS PYRITE IN SCHISTS.
