Comments
Comment (Location): Original political location is Deer Lodge county. However, original lat/long place it 360 meters inside adjacent Granite county. Original coordinates were: lat/long NAD27 46-13-41N 113-15-25W (46.2281 -113.2569); UTM N5121644 E325955 Z12N; PLSS line# 1: Meridian- Montana Principal, TWNSHP 006 N, RNG 013 W, Sect 32, Sect_fract NWNESW. The geonames location for Bob Evans Mine is 2 km ESE of the original location, safely inside Deer Lodge county. This location is based on a 1993 Montana Dept Transportation railroad map, whereas the original location is based on a 1933 MBM Memoir reference. The MRDS duplicate record 10019438 is located very close to the original location and is based on a 1935 MBM Memoir reference. In both records, the PLSS coordinates match the original lat/long fairly closely. Since the original coordinates contradicted the county name in both records, they were changed to the geonames location and the PLSS coordinates were cleared.
