UPPER CAHOON CREEK WORKED WITH LITTLE SUCCESS AND ABANDONED. NEW CLAIMS STAKED 1962 & 1974. CLAIMS ACTIVE 1976. EARLY PLACERS EXTENDED BEYOND MOUTH OF CAHOON CR ABOUT 2000 FT DOWN MCKINLEY CREEK. NEW CLAIMS FARTHER UP CAHOON CREEK. PRODUCTION OF CAHOON, MCKINLEY & PORCUPINE CREEKS 1898 THRU 1916 YIELDED $1,200,000 AU. NO BREAKDOWN AVAILABLE. 1902-3 small hydraulic plant operated at the face of Cahoon Glacier but was unsuccessful. 1908-13 Cahoon Creek Mining Co. mined the lower 0.5 mile section of Cahoon Creek.. 1913-85 hand methods were used to prospect the creek in more years, but the results are unknown.
