MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Geology): Age = Cretaceous ; Epigenetic mineralization in metamorphic rocks of Seward Peninsula is primarily of Cretaceous age.

Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Gamble, 1988

Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Quartz-hematite (?) veins and gossan zones in marble are developed near a small fault (Gamble, 1988). A sample of gossan contained 20 % Fe, 1,100 ppm As, 270 ppm Zn, 80 ppm Sb, and 10 ppm Mo. A sample of the veins contained 1,400 ppm Zn and 250 ppm As. The marble is Lower Paleozoic in age (Till and others, 1986).

Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Quartz veins in marble

Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = There are no known workings here.

Comment (Exploration): Status = Inactive
