Comment (Geology): Age = Quaternary.
Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = McCallie Creek hosts several placer gold occurrences. Its drainage area includes Upper Triassic limestone and basalt, in thrust contact with Lower Jurassic and Upper Triassic sandstone, siltstone, argillite, and conglomerate (Wilson and others, 1998). In places, these units are cut by several generations of veins related to Upper Cretaceous or Lower Tertiary plutons. The placer gold probably was derived from the erosion of such veins.
