The Nenana is a zinc and copper mine located in Alaska.
About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.
Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Besshi massive sulfide (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 24b)
Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = Exploration consisted of rock-chip and soil sampling (unpublished report for the New Alaska Syndicate, 1977).
Comment (Geology): Age = the sulfide minerals probably are syngenetic with their Upper Triassic host rocks.
Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Balen, 1990 (OFR 34-90)
Comment (Exploration): Status = Inactive
Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = The area of the Nenana prospect is underlain by Upper Triassic, thin-bedded, commonly cross-bedded, carbonaceous shale, argillite, sandstone, and siltstone. The strata are cut by numerous dikes, sills, and plugs of altered diabase and gabbro, and by Upper Cretaceous?-Lower Tertiary granites (Wilson and others, 1998). The prospect consists of pyrite?, chalcopyrite, and sphalerite disseminated in the sedimentary rocks.
