Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Exploration): Status = Inactive

Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Besshi massive sulfide(?) (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 24b)

Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = The country rocks in the area of this occurrence are Lower Cretaceous to Upper Jurassic, monotonous, intensely deformed and locally highly metamorphosed turbidites. The occurrence consists of copper- and nickel-bearing sulfide minerals disseminated in the sedimentary rocks (Clark and Cobb, 1972).

Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Clark and Cobb, 1972

Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = There has been surface sampling only.

Comment (Geology): Age = the sulfide minerals may be syngenetic with their Lower Cretaceous to Upper Jurassic sedimentary host rocks.
