Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Reed, 1939
Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = The IXL prospect was originally discovered prior to 1912 and was known as the Union claim. The IXL prospect eventually came under the ownership of Nels Giske, Paul Ringseth, Willie Larson and Louis Grimsmoe who staked the North Star Group which included the North Star, Union, Bill Taft and Grimsmoe claims (Times Publishing Company, 1912). The claim was being explored by Fred C. Robinson in 1938 and 25 tons of high grade material was hand cobbled from the dumps. This ore averaged $22 per ton in gold (0.63 ounces of gold per ton) (Reed, 1939).
