Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = The Scotia prospect is probably within sheared wallrock near the Anvil fault. Cathcart (1922, p. 239) reported that an 8-inch quartz-calcite vein occured in a short tunnel on the Scotia claim; pyrite and arsenopyrite were present in both schist and vein material. Bedrock in the general area is mostly graphitic schist, probably of early Paleozoic protolith age (Hummel, 196 [MF 247]; Sainsbury, Hummel, and Hudson, 1972 [OFR 72-326]; Till and Dumoulin, 1994; Bundtzen and others, 1994).
