Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Geology): Age = Quaternary.
Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Mertie (1938, p. 91) reported that fine placer gold was found in creeks draining the north and west sides of Tikchik Mountain. Bedrock in the area of Tikchik Mountain is clastic sedimentary rocks, inferred to be part of the mid-Cretaceous Kuskokwim Group, which is intruded by Upper Cretaceous or Lower Teritary granitic rocks (Mertie, 1938).
Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Placer Au-PGE (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 39a)
Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Mertie, 1938
Comment (Exploration): Status = Inactive
