Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Geology): Age = Likely to be one of three ages of porphyry mineralization -- 90 to 100 Ma, 70 Ma, or 55 Ma -- based on dates from other porphyry prospects in the Yukon-Tanana terrane.

Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = This description

Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = Surface exploration.

Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Baggage prospect was staked in the 1970's by Cities Services Mineral Corporation, and was considered a possible porphyry-Cu prospect (David Hedderly-Smith, oral communication, 1998). The regional geology of the area is mapped as Paleozoic-Precambrian biotite gneiss and amphibolite- grade schist (Foster, 1970). The prospect lies within the eastern Yukon-Tanana Y1 subterrane (Foster and Keith, 1994).

Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Porphyry Cu? (Cox and Singer, 1986, model 21a)
