All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.
Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Porphyry Cu? (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 21a)
Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = This description
Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = The Oreo Mountain prospect was initially staked in the 1970's by Cities Services Mineral Corp. as a possible porphyry Cu deposit. It has a reportedly large intriguing geochemical anomaly (David Hedderly-Smith, oral communication, 1998). The regional geology is mapped as Paleozoic and/or Precambrian biotite gneiss, amphibolite grade. The prospect is located within the Y1 subterrane of the Yukon-Tanana terrane (Foster and Keith, 1994).
