Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Placer gold was first found in Eagle Creek in 1907. The creek has been prospected but was never mined (Lyle, 1973). The bedrock in the Eagle Creek drainage is composed of Cretaceous to Tertiary sandstone, conglomerate, and mudstone. The sedimentary rocks are poorly sorted and poorly consolidated, and the conglomerate contains well-rounded clasts (Lyle, 1973; Dover and Miyaoka, 1988).
