Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Ellsworth and Davenport, 1913

Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = Prospecting or mining was done along the creek in 1912 (Ellsworth and Davenport, 1913).

Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Prospecting or mining activity was reported in 1912 along a tributary of Coal Creek (CY006) called Rose Creek (Ellsworth and Davenport, 1913). Presumably Rose Creek crosses the same Tertiary conglomerate that is the source of placer gold for other creeks in the area (Dover and Miyaoka, 1988).

Comment (Deposit): Other Comments = This site is within the Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve.

Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Placer Au (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 39a).

Comment (Geology): Age = Quaternary
