Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Geology): Age = Quaternary.

Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Collier and others, 1908

Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Five feet of gravel that contained 3 to 10 cents gold per pan, was reported to be present in the lower part of the creek near the Tisuk River flood plain (Collier and others, 1908, p. 220). The ground was idle when examined by Collier in 1903 but reportedly produced from 3 to 10 dollars per day per man by rocker, hence was richer than Hume (NM004) and Tomboy (NM008) Creeks also described by Collier and his associates in the same general region. Bedrock, exposed at least locally along most of Tisuk River and tributaries such as Nolan Creek, is primarily a mafic metavolcanic assemblage (Sainsbury, Smith, and Kachadoorian, 1972).

Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = Placer gold mining was done by rocker before 1903.

Comment (Exploration): Status = Probably inactive

Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Placer Au (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 39a).
