The Winnemucca Gold Property is a gold, silver, and iron mine located in Humboldt county, Nevada at an elevation of 6,594 feet.
About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Commodity): Ore Materials: gold, electrum
Comment (Economic Factors): There was unknown but small amount of historic production from the mine in the 1930s.In 1998, reserves were reported to be 130,000 to 140,000 oz Au proven, plus 300,000 oz Au indicated.
Comment (Geology): The shear zone contains small amounts of gold and silver in gangue of quartz and iron oxides.
Comment (Identification): The current record incorporates material from MRDS record # M030034 for the old Winnemucca Mountain Mine which is encompassed by the current Winnemucca Gold Property.
Comment (Location): The property is located on the southern slope of Winnemuca Mountain.
Comment (Workings): The historic mine was developed by a series of open cuts and shallow tunnels
Comment (Commodity): Gangue Materials: quartz; iron oxides; molybdenite, chalcopyrite
Comment (Deposit): The property is covered by 22 or more unpatented claims.
Comment (Development): The historic Winnemucca Mountain mine was owned by Gus and Ab Rogers from at least 1937 through 1945. The ore shipped from the mine during this period had a high iron content, and was shipped primarily for use as flux. The mine area has been prospected sporadically since that time as a precious metals prospect. In 1997, Anvil Resources announced delay of a two-phase drilling program scheduled for the Winnemucca Mountain gold property while it sought additional funding or a joint venture partner. Extensive earlier exploration on the property proved up 130,000 to 140,000 oz of gold in the main stockwork zone with several other potential zones targeted for drill testing. In 1987 in the same area, Pallaum Minerals announced signing of an option to acquire what they called the ?W property? , where earlier drilling identified disseminated gold in silicified sediments and in quartz/ carbonate veining (Pallaum Minerals press release, 4/16/97). In 1998, Pallaum began a preliminary exploration program on the property and planned drilling in the latter part of the year. The work centered on an area of gold mineralization that graded 0.04 opt gold over 100 feet. Pallaum Minerals was subsequently evaluating potential joint venture opportunities.
