MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Commodity): Ore Materials: free gold
Comment (Deposit): The deposit occurs along the same north-trending structure as the Buckhorn Mine just to the north. Drilling about one mile south of the known Zeke deposit has discovered gold mineralization along a structural zone in Tertiary basalt, and to some extent in the Tertiary fanglomerate beneath the volcanic rocks.
Comment (Development): In 1987, a more-than 5000-ft drill program was underway to define and confirm estimated reserves. Buckhorn South is a property of approximately 5,000 acres, subject to 265 unpatented mining claims, located approximately two miles south of the Buckhorn mine. AngloGold North America (formerly Independence Mining Company) was exploring Buckhorn South in 2001. Royal Gold holds a 14% net profits interest royalty on any production from the Buckhorn South property. The property has known mineralized material of 2.4 million tons, with an average grade of 0.046 opt, or approximately 110,000 contained ounces of gold. Whether some or all of this mineralization can be classified to proven and probable reserve status depends upon consideration of further drilling and metallurgical testing results, and application of economic and technical feasibility factors. Drilling about one mile south of the known Zeke deposit has discovered gold mineralization along a structural zone in Tertiary basalt, and to some extent in the Tertiary fanglomerate beneath the volcanic rocks. More drilling is needed to determine if a mineable gold deposit exists in this area, which has been referred to as the ?Royal Zone.?
Comment (Economic Factors): In 1997, Buckhorn and Buckhorn South (Zeke) geologic reserves were reported to be 24 million tons of ore grading 0.046 opt Au. Reserves for the two deposits were not listed separately. In 2001 the Zeke property resource was listed as 2 million tons of material grading 0.056 ounces of gold per ton for a total of 112,000 contained ounces of gold, based on 10,400 feet of drilling done in 1984. Royal Gold reported that the property has a known mineralized material of 2.4 million tons, with an average grade of 0.046 opt, or approximately 110,000 contained ounces of gold.
Comment (Identification): This record incorporates contains all information in earlier MRDS record M242942 for the Zeke Deposit plus additional updateds material.
Comment (Location): The Zeke property consists of 265 unpatented mining claims about 2 miles south of the Buckhorn Mine.
