Comments

Comment (Geology): TOURMALINE WAS NOTED ON THE DUMP OF A COPPER PROSPECT ON THE RIDGE SADDLE ABOVE THE TUNGSTEN ADIT. THE TOURMALINE WAS ASSOCIATED WITH COARSELY CRYSTALLINE QUARTZ.

Comment (Production): 2,374 TONS PRODUCED FROM THE E.H.B. LODE CLAIM, AVERAGING 1.3 PERCENT TUNGSTEN TRIOXIDE

Comment (Development): THE E.H.B. LODE, PROBABLE, AND NO. 1 SPECIAL CLAIMS WERE OPERATED BY STAR DUST MINES UNTIL 1953, WHEN THEY WERE LEASED TO F.F. HINTZE, WHO HELD A CONTRACT WITH THE DEFENSE MINERALS EXPLORATION ADMINISTRATION (EVERETT, 1961, P. 24).

Comment (Workings): A NUMBER OF TRENCHES, PITS, OPENCUTS, SHORT ADITS, DRIFTS, AND SHAFTS ARE PRESENT ON THE PROPERTY. MOST OF THE PRODUCTION CAME FROM DRIFTS AND SHAFTS ON THE E.H.B. LODE CLAIM.

Comment (Deposit): THE MINERALIZATION OCCURS BOTH IN GARNET-RICH AND POOR CONTACT METASOMATIC ZONES; THE GARNET-RICH TACTITES SEEM TO CARRY THE LARGER (BUT LOWER GRADE) ORE BODIES, THAT IS, ORE THAT IS HIGHER IN MOLYBDENUM (FROM THE MINERAL POWELLITE).
