Alderman Joy of Leadville

Charles. C. Joy was a police officer, mining man, and business owner in Leadville during the 1880s and 1890s. He served as an alderman on the Leadville city council for at least 15 years in the late 1800s. Newspaper articles report on his shocking acts of violence, and paint him as a man that was feared by most in Leadville, and ultimately above the law.
