MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Deposit): QUARTZ VEINS CONTAIN WOLFRAMITE AND SCHEELITE AND ARE CUT BY SERICIT VEINLETS. ORE IS IN FRACTURES.
Comment (Workings): MINE IS DEVELOPED BY 9 MAIN LEVELS AND 3 SUBLEVELS TOTALING 15,500 FT OF LEVEL WORKINGS. THERE IS 1 INSIDE WINZE SUNK VERTICALLY TO 450 FT, 3 LEVELS ARE IN THIS WINZE WITH ABOUT 5000 FT OF WORKINGS. CUT AND FILL MINING WAS MOST COMON.
Comment (Deposit): Discovery Year: BEFORE 1908 OR 1914
Comment (Geology): THE PHYLLITE IS PART OF A LARGE PENDANT IN GRANITE, AVERAGING HALF A MILE WIDE AND EXTENDING FOR SEVERAL MILES NORTHEASTWARD. NUMEROUS QUARTZ VEINS CUT THE PHYLLITE BUT ONLY THOSE NEAR THE CENTER OF THE BELT CONTAIN TUNGSTEN IN COMMERCIAL QUANTITY.
Comment (Deposit): THE BORIANA MINE HAD YIELDED TO THE END OF 1956 FAR MORE TUNGSTEN MINERALS THAN THE COMBINED OUTPUT FROM THE REST OF THE STATE AND ALSO HAD MUCH LARGER INFERRED RESERVES. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT
Comment (Location): IN BORIANA CANYON AND BULL CANYON
Comment (Production): THE MAXIMUM ANNUAL OUTPUT OF 26,299 UNITS WAS MADE IN 1936. AFTER 1930, SMALL AMOUNTS OF COPPER CONCENTRATES WERE ALSO RECOVERED. IN 1918, BORIANA WAS THE LARGEST TUNGSTEN PRODUCER IN ARIZONA.
Comment (Commodity): FLUORSPAR IS PURPLE.
Comment (Development): OPERATORS INCLUDED GARY BRANUM AND SON AND JIM SLACK (1975), MOLYBDENUM CORP, C. SHIPP, DYE AND BATHRICK. MINE CONSISTED OF 23 UNPATENTED CLAIMS.
