MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Location): Main shaft is in center of the E/2, E/2 sec.1, T 4 S, R 74 W, about 5 miles WSW of Idaho Springs; the Lamartine tunnel is about 4000 feet NE of the main shaft.
Comment (Production): GOLD PROD. 78,184.71 OZ; 3,092 962 OZ. AG; 162,802 POUNDS CU; 5,601,598 POUNDS PB; 1,258,136 POUNDS ZN FROM 300,000 TONS OF ORE (FROM 1867 TO 1952).
Comment (Reserve-Resource): An undated report estimated 734,120 tons of ore remaining in adits and estimated 3,000,000 more under the old workings. An analysis dated 1965 cautioned that available resources may be considerably less and grades were not predictable on the basis of available data. More recent calculations indicate that 50,000 to 200,000 tons of dump and tailings material may also be a resource. (Sunshine files)
Comment (Workings): The Lamartine has 12 miles of workings, the most extensive in the district, over a vertical range of 1,800 feet.
Comment (Commodity): The Lamartine vein produced Pb-Zn-Ag ore; the Oneida vein produced Au-Cu ore. Production values are primarily gold and silver, with lesser values in lead, and zinc, plus minor copper.
Comment (Geology): Ore has been found in sulfide veins filling fissures, over a vertical range of 1,600 feet; major veins include the Lamartine, Crown, Oneida, Mendick, and Great Western.
Comment (Commodity): Gangue contains carbonate minerals.
