Comment (Workings): MINE DEVELOPED BY 300-FT-DEEP VERTICAL SHAFT LOCATED 510 FT N 42 W FROM BONANZA SHAFT. TWO LEVELS DEVELOPED DIRECTLY FROM SHAFT AT 200 AND 300 FT DEPTHS, WITH LATTER CONNECTING TO 300 LEVEL OF BONANZA MINE. COCOMONGO ALSO DEVELOPED BY EXTENSION OF 400 LEVEL FROM BONANZA MINE. 200 LEVEL CONTAINS 610 FT OF WORKINGS. TOTAL EXTENT OF 300 AND 400 LEVEL WORKINGS (INCLUDING BONANZA) IS 2130 AND 1900 FT, RESPECTIVELY. MAJOR STOPES LIE BETWEEN 400 AND 300 LEVELS NE AND SE OF SHAFT, AND ABOVE 300 LEVEL NNE OF SHAFT.
Comment (Deposit): COCOMONGO VEIN DIPS MODERATELY TO STEEPLY NEAR SURFACE BUT FLATTENS TO THE NE WITH DEPTH. HANGING WALL CONTAINS MAJOR STEEPLY DIPPING BRANCH (BONANZA VEIN) AND SEVERAL TRANSVERSE VERTICAL FRACTURES, SOME OF WHICH HAD BEEN STOPED. TRANSVERSE FRACTURES APPEAR TO BRANCH OFF COCOMONGO VEIN AT CURVES OR ROLLS IN FAULT PLANE. NW END OF COCOMONGO VEIN BENDS TO NORTH-SOUTH STRIKE AND APPEARS TO TERMINATE AGAINST OR BE DISPLACED BY GOUGY NORTH- TO NE-DIPPING PREMINERAL FAULT.
Comment (Development): COCOMONGO CLAIM PATENTED IN 1910 AND DEVELOPED IN 1917-1921. DURING THIS TIME AND IN SUBSEQUENT YEARS, PROPERTY WAS CONSOLIDATED WITH BONANZA AND THEIR PRODUCTION WAS REPORTED JOINTLY. MINE WAS INACTIVE AFTER 1926 EXCEPT FOR SPORADIC PRODUCTION IN 1943 AND 1954. IN 1966 COTTER CORP. LEASED THE PROPERTY FOR EXPLORATION BUT CLOSED IT DOWN THE SAME YEAR.
