Comment (Deposit): THORIUM VEINS IN THIS AREA ARE ONE OF FOUR ENVIRONMENTS OF TH OCCURRENCE KNOWN IN POWDERHORN-IRON HILL AREA AND ARE PROBABLY RELATED TO EMPLACEMENT OF LATE PRECAMBRIAN SYENITES NORTH AND WEST OF IRON HILL ANDOF YOUNGER LATE PRECAMBRIAN OR CAMBRIAN CARBONATITES AT IRON HILL. FOLIATION OF BLACK CANYON SCHIST COUNTRY ROCK TRENDS VARIABLY WNW-ESE TO ENE-WSW, DIPPING 60 TO 90 NORTH. THORIUM VEINS TREND N 80 W AND N 23 E. NE EXTENSION OF NE-TRENDING VEIN IS COVERED BY OLIGOCENE TUFF AND MIOCENE BASALT.
