MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comment (Commodity): BASE METALS AND RARE EARTHS LISTED ABOVE ARE GENERAL OCCURRENCES REPORTED FOR TH VEINS IN AREA; ALL MAY NOT NECESSARILY OCCUR AT THIS SITE.
Comment (Deposit): THORIUM VEINS IN THIS AREA ARE ONE OF FOUR ENVIRONMENTS OF TH OCCURRENCE KNOWN IN THE POWDERHORN-IRON HILL AREA AND ARE PROBABLY RELATED TO EMPLACMENT OF LATE PRECAMBRIAN SYENITES NORTH AND WEST OF IRON HILL AND OF YOUNGER LATE PREGAMBRIAN OR CAMBRIAN CARBONATITES AT IRON HILL. PINK TO RED ORTHOCLASE IS COMMON AS LARGE LATHS OR AS CLUSTERED SUBHEDERAL TO ANHEDRAL GRAINS. ADJACENT TO MOST VEINS, WALL ROCKS ARE PARTLY REPLACED BY ORTHOCLASE (FENITELIKE REPLACEMENT). VERY FINE-GRAINED THORITE IS INTERGROWN WITH FE OXIDES. SMALL PLUTON OF FINE- TO MEDIUM-GRAINED GRANITE HAS INTRUDED DUBOIS FELSITE ON WEST MARGIN OF IRON HILL COMPLEX. FELSITE UNIT CONTAINS LENTICULAR, CONCORDANT LAYERS OF DUBOIS HORNBLENDE SCHIST AND AMPHIBOLITE. FOLIATION OF FELSITE AND TREND OF ENCLOSED SCHIST/AMPHIBOLITE LAYER ARE N 30 E. SMALL TH VEIN CUTS ACROSS TREND OF FOLIATION AND TRENDS N 80 W.
Comment (Workings): ONE SURFACE PROSPECT PIT
Comment (Geology): OTHER MINERALS LISTED ABOVE ARE GENERAL OCCURRENCES REPORTED FOR TH VEINS IN AREA; ALL MAY NOT NECESSARILY OCCUR AT THIS SITE.
Comment (Location): AT TOP OF RIDGE WEST OF CEBOLLA CREEK 2.15 MILES SE OF POWDERHORN AND 1.6 MILES WSW OF IRON HILL. ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :1976
