Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Commodity): Considerable fluorite in places, may be recoverable.

Comment (Deposit): GOLD MINE. TUNGSTEN OCCURED IN ONE POCKET ONLY, ON THE 3RD LEVEL

Comment (Geology): Six major and several minor veins are exposed; important ore veins strike NE and dip steeply NW. Large pipe-like orebodies occur at vein intersections.

Comment (Location): Sec. 24, T2N, R 72W, about 1 mile NW of Jamestown.

Comment (Production): The most productive gold mine in the district, the Bueno is credited with $2,000,000 from 1879 to 1943, mostly in gold. Additional exploration and mining during the 1960s, 70s, and 80s probably resulted in limited gold production. The mine has seven levels, from 7500 to 8050 feet in elevation.

Comment (Reserve-Resource): Sunshine Mining Co. files (Boulder County - Jamestown Project) contain several reports, dated from 1930 to 1992, that describe the Bueno mine workings, geology, and facilities, and include results of drilling and sample assays, discussions of ore reserves, and exploration targets. In 1992 Sunshine declined to do additional work.
