Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Geology): THE ROCKS OF THE AREA CONSIST OF RHYOLITIC OBSIDIAN, ALTERRED TO A DENSE WHITE CHALCEDONIC ROCK, AND THE OVERLYING ASH IS LARGELY OPALIZED FROM THE CONTACT UPWARD FOR ABOUT 10 FT. CINNABAR IMPREGNATES THE LOWER 4 FT. OF THE OPALIZED ZONE IN SUFFICIENT AMOUNT TO FORM A BLANKET ORE, AND IT LOCALLY OCCURS DISSEMINATED IN LESSER AMOUNTS IN THE OVERLYING ASH. THE MINERALIZED BLANKET LIES IN THE TROUGH OF A NORTHERLY TRENDING SYNCLINE ABOUT 1,500 IN WIDTH.
Comment (Deposit): CINNABAR OCCURS IN A BED OF RHYOLITIC OBSIDIAN ALTERRED TO A DENSE WHITE CHALCEDONIC ROCK AND OVERLYING ASH OPALIZED FROM THE CONTACT UPWARD FOR ABOUT 10 FEET. BLANKET ORE, AND IT LOCALLY OCCURS DISSEMINATED IN LESSER AMOUNTS IN OVERLYING ASH.
Comment (Workings): SMALL OPEN PIT WITH A FEW DRIFTS AND STOPES IN THE DEEPER PORTIONS
Comment (Deposit): DISCOVERED IN 1931. THE BLANKET TYPE DEPOSIT WAS MINED BY A SMALL OPEN PIT. WITH A FEW DRIFTS AND STOPES IN THE DEEPER PORTIONS. A SERIES OF MINE MAPS AND GEOLOGIC MAPS OF THE PROPERTY ARE ON FILE W/ THE NEV. BUREAU OF MINES. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT
