Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Deposit): THE SYLVANIA MINE IS DEVELOPED BY AN ADIT AND INCLINED SHAFT WITH A SMALL SLOPE AND A 120' LONG X 70' WIDE X 40' DEEP GLORY HOLE. THE WORKINGS CUT NUMEROUS FAULTS, MANY OF WHICH ARE MINERALIZED. THE ORE OCCURS AS SMALL PIPES, PODS, AND VEINS IN THE LIMESTONE. THE MAJORITY OF THE PRODUCTION OF THIS PROPERTY CAME FROM THE GLORY HOLE. A DRIFTS WERE DRIVEN 100' BELOW THE BOTTOM OF THE GLORY HOLE TO EXPLORE A POSSIBLE DOWNWARD EXTENSION OF THE ORE BODY, BUT ONLY FAULTED LIMESTONE AND SOLUTION CAVATIES PARTLY FILLED WITH CLAY WERE ENCOUNTERED. AN INCLINED SHAFT WAS SUNK ON A NARROW VEIN 70' SOUTH OF THE PORTAL AND A SMALL ARE BODY WAS FOUND AT A FAULT INTERSECTION WITH THE VEIN ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT
