Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comment (Deposit): THIS CLAIM IS ONE OF THE GREY COPPER CORP'S UPPER GROUP, AND IS LOCATED ON SCHRADER'S (1912) CLAIM MAP. THE OLD ABE VEIN CROSSES THE GRANODIORITE-LIMESTONE CONTACT BUT IS MAINLY IN THE GRANODIORITE. IT IS 3,500 FT LONG AND 40 FT OR MORE WIDE. THE EXTENSION OF THE OLD ABE VEIN IN THE FACE OF THE H.B. SMITH TUNNEL STRIKES ABOUT N 25 E AND STANDS ALMOST VERTICAL. HERE THE VEIN IS IN LIMESTONE. MINERAL SURVEY 4241 THE AVERAGE OF 20 ASSAYS OF THE OLD ABE LODE IN THE HELEN B. SMITH TUNNEL (LIMESTONE HOST ROCK) GAVE 4.24% CU, 1.68 OZ AG, 145 OZ AU. THE RANGE FOR COPPER WAS .96% TO 13.38%. THERE ARE 3 OTHER TUNNELS THAT CUT THE OLD ABE LODE AT VARIOUS ELEVATIONS ABOVE THE H.B. SMITH TUNNEL: 1) THE "MAMMOTH TUNNEL CUTS THE OLD ABE VEIN FOR 35 FT. ALONG THE TUNNEL. ASSAYS RANGE FROM 2.4% TO 3.4% CU, WITH SOME AG. 2) THE 520 FT. TUNNEL EXPOSES CHALCOPYRITE BODIES RANGING FROM 3% TO 7% CU AND UP TO 7 OZ. AG. 3) THE 460 FOOT TUNNEL CUTS A BODY OF 5% CU ORE 30 FT.
