Comments

Comment (Geology): ADIT VISITED IS IN CONTACT ZONE BETWEEN SILICEOUS, SILTY MUDSTONES OF THE ORDOVICIAN VININI FM. AND ALTERED TERTIARY QUARTZ PORPHYRY. THE SEDIMENTS OUTCROP ON THE SE SIDE OF THE PORTAL. THE VEDS STRIKE APPROXIMATELY N20E, 55SE AND ARE FRACTURED AND FE-STAINED. A WEATHERED PATCH OF INTRUSIVE ROCK IS EXPOSED NEXT TO THE SEDIMENTS. THE INTRUSIVE IS BEIGE IN COLOR, HAS A VERY FINELY CRYSTALLINE GROUNDMASS AND CONTAINS FINE BIOTITE CRYSTALS AND LARGE QUARTZ AND K-SPARY PHENOCRYSTS. THE PORPHYRY ON THE DUMP AND IN OUTCROP IS ALTERED. THE ALTERATION RANGES FROM KAOLINITIC TO SILICIC. SOME PIECES OF PORPHYRY FORM THE DUMPA RE BLEACHED AND SHOW RANDOM VEINLETS OF PUNKY FE AND MN OXS. SAMPLE 157A CONSISTS OF THE ALTERED SEDIMENTS WHICH CONTAIN CLOTS AND FINE VEINLETS OF CU AND FEOXS. SAMPLE B IS OF THE ALTERED INTRUSIVE FROM OUTCROP. BELOW THE WORKINGS ARE SEVERAL BOLD OUTCROPS OF FE-STAINED QUARTZ PORPHYRY. THERE ARE PROBABLY SEVERAL DIKES WHICH EXTEND FROM MAIN BODY INTO THE ADJACENT

Comment (Geology): SEDIMENTS NOT SHOWN ON GEOLOGIC MAP OF THIS AREA.

Comment (Development): THREE ADITS, ONLY ONE OF WHICH WAS SAMPLED. SAMPLED ADIT IS CAVED AND TRENDS TO THE SW.

Comment (Deposit): SAMPLE #1576A; DARK GREY SILICEOUS MUDSTONE/CHERT. SURFACES COATED BY CUOXS AND FEOXS. SOME SMALL VEINLETS OF MALACHITE. ROCK IS SLIGHTLY GOSSANY. SAMPLE #1576B; YELLOWISH, HIGHLY ALTERED GRANITIC TO QUARTZ MONZONITIC INTRUSIVE (DIKE?) WITH CIARSE QUARTZ AND FELDSPAR PHENOCRYSTS. FELDSPARS ARE COMPLETELY KAOLINIZED AND GROUND MASS IS HIGHLY FE STAINED.
