The NBMG Sample Locations 171 & 172 is a copper and lead mine located in Elko county, Nevada at an elevation of 7,999 feet.
About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comment (Location): 4 PROSPECTS ON NORTH AND SOUTH SIDE OF W-TRNEDING RIDGE.
Comment (Development): CLAIMS ARE PROBABLY PATENTED
Comment (Workings): 4 PROSPECTS: (1) SMALL 6' LONG, N-S CUT IN CARBONATE OUTCROP; (2) N30E TRENDING ADIT FOLLOWS FAULT/REPLACEMENT ZONE WHICH PARALLELS NE-STRIKING CARBONATE BEDS; (3) 30'DEEP, NE-TRENDING ADIT DEVELOPED ALONG NARROW SW-DIPPING (30 DEGREES) SKARN (FAULT) ZONE IN CARBONATES; (4) SHALLOW PROSPECTS DEVELOPED ALONG N20W, 45 SW GOSSANY FAULT ZONE/VEIN CUTTING SW-DIPPING SILICIFIED CARBONATES.
Comment (Geology): ON THE RIDGECREST. IT CONSISTS OF SHALLOW PROSPECTS AND TRENCHES DEVELOPED ALONG A GOSSANY FAULT ZONE/VEIN CUTTING SILICIFIED CARBONATED. THE BEDDING OF THE CARBONATES IS PLATY AND ALSO DIPS TO THE SOUTH-WEST. THE CARBONATES ARE CUT BY GOSSANY, LIMONITIC, VUGGY QUARTZ VEINS WITH PODS OF CUOXS PYRITE, CHALCOPYRITE, GALENA ND POSSIBLY SPHALERITE AND ARSENOPYRITE. (SAMPLE 172). A SMALL, INTRUSIVE DIKE OUTCROPS WEST OF PROSPECT.
Comment (Deposit): SAMPLE #171 CONSITS OF: SILICEOUS LIMONITIC GOSSAN AND ALTERED LS CONTAINING MALACHITE, HEMIMORPHITE, (MINOR) GALENA AND CERRUSSITE IN IRREGULAR LENSES AND PODS. ALSO SOME CALCITE VEIN MATERIAL. SAMPLE #172 CONSISTS OF: VITREOUS CLEAR TO GREY, CRYSTALLINE QUARTZ VEIN WITH SCATTERED VUGS AND GOSSANY PORTIONS. QUARTZ VEIN CONTAINS PODS OF FINELY CRYSTALLINE PYRITE, CHALCOPYRITE GALEN, CUOXS, AND POSSIBLY SPHALERITE AND ARSENOPYRITE. UNIDENTIFIED MUSTARD YELLOW OXIDE ASSOCIATED WITH GOSSAN. (POSSIBLY SB?) VEIN HAS SHEARED APPEARANCE. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV
Comment (Geology): TRAVERSED ACROSS MASSIVE LIMESTONES OF DEVILS GATE FM. AND REACHED 4 PROSPECTS ON NORTH AND SOUTH SIDE OF W-TRENDING RIDGE. PROSPECTS DEVELOPED IN MORE LEDGY DOLOMITES OF THE NEVADA FM. THE FIRST PROSPECT (NOT SAMPLED) SMALL AMOUNT OF SILICIFIED LIMESTONE BRECCIA AND TOOTHSPAR WAS FOUND IN THE CUT. THE SECOND PROSPECT IS A N30E TRENDING ADIT WHICH SEEMS TO FOLLOW A NARROW FAULT OR REPLACEMENT ZONE DEVELOPED IN 2-3' WIDE BEDS OF GREY DOLOMITE. THE NARROW REPLACEMENT ZONE PARALLELS THE NE STRIKE OF THE BEDDED CARBONATES. THE ZONE IS MARKED BY PUNKY HEMATITIC AND LIMONITIC GOSSAN AND GOSSAN CEMENTED BRECCIA. AT THE PORTAL THE ZONE DIPS STEEPLY TO THE EAST BUT ROLLS TO A VERTICAL POSITION INSIDE THE ADIT. SAMPLE 171 WAS COLLECTED AT THIS LOCATION. IN OUTCROP, CALCITE VEINS WERE DEVELOPED ALONG THE BEDDING PLANES. THE THIRD PROSPECT IS AN ADIT DEVELOPED ALONG A NARROW SW-DIPPING (30 DEGREE) SKARN (FAULT) ZONE IN LIMESTONE, THERE WAS NO OBVIOUS MINERALIZATION. THE FORUTH PROSPECT IS LOCATED

Nevada Gold
Nevada has a total of 368 distinct gold districts. Of the of those, just 36 are major producers with production and/or reserves of over 1,000,000 ounces, 49 have production and/or reserves of over 100,000 ounces, with the rest having less than 100,000 ounces. Read more: Gold Districts of Nevada.
