Comments

Comment (Location): THE DERBY CLAIMS WERE LOCATED ON BLM DISTRICT SHEET #272, SE 1/2, AS WERE THE PURITAN AND ITALIAN CLAIMS

Comment (Workings): ONE SHAFT 500 FT DEEP, ANOTHER 300 FT DEEP. TUNNELS FROM SHAFTS, 500, 700, 800, AND 130 FEET LONG, WITH A TOTAL OF ABOUT 5,000 FT OF WORKINGS (1918). APPARENTLY THE MAIN WORKINGS OF THE DERBY GROUP ARE ON THE PURITAN AND ITALIAN CLAIMS. THESE TWO CLAIMS ARE LOCATED ONE-HALF MILE WEST OF THE DERBY PATENTED CLAIMS, IN THE FAR SOUTHEAST CORNER OF SEC. 28, T14N, R3W. THE PURITAN HAD A 200 FT SHAFT WITH OVER 700 FT OF DRIFTS, AND THE ITALIAN HAD A 365 FT SHAFT WITH AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF DRIFTS.

Comment (Geology): DEPOSIT IS QUARTZ VEIN WHICH CUTS PROTEROZOIC GRANODIORITE. AGE OF VEIN NOT CLOSELY CONSTRAINED, BUT THOUGHT TO BE PRECAMBRIAN

Comment (Development): PROPERTY ONCE OWNED AND OPERATED BY G. U. YOUNG, PRESIDENT OF MADIZELLE MINING CO. CONSISTED ORIGINALLY OF 18 CLAIMS, PURITAN, ITALIAN, HUMBERT, SUNNY SIDE NO. 1, SUNNY SIDE, KNOCKER DOOM, SURE ENOUGH, DERBY, DERBY NO. 2, DERBY NO. 3, HUGMENOT, MADIZELL, PATSY, ELLEN NO. 1, ELLEN NO. 2 (1909). THE PROPERTY NOW HAS 25 CLAIMS (1940), ADDED CLAIM NAMES UNKNOWN.

Comment (Deposit): DEPOSIT IS APPARENTLY A QUARTZ VEIN THAT TRENDS NW AND CUTS PRECAMBRIAN ROCKS
