Comments

Comment (Workings): SHALLOW OPEN CUTS AND PITS. IRREGULAR ADITS AND STOPES.

Comment (Deposit): THESE OCCURRENCES ARE REPUTED TO HAVE BEEN KNOWN FROM AT LEAST SPANISH COLONIAL TIMES AND PERHAPS EARLIER; ALSO THAT THE AMETHYST IN THE CROWN JEWELS OF SPAIN ARE FROM FOUR PEAKS. THE MINE IS ON PATENTED GROUND AND COLLECTING AT THIS SITE IS NOT PERMITTED, BUT COLLECTING IS OFTEN DOWN ON ADJACENT LAND IN THE TONTO NATIONAL FOREST. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 3 FIELD OBSERV

Comment (Deposit): AMETHYST, HEMATITE, SPECULARITE, AND COLORLESS QUARTZ ENCRUST OPEN SPACE IN FAULT BRECCIA. SEVERAL GROWTH STAGES ARE EVIDENT. SOME BRECCIATION OF MINERALIZATION AND CORROSION HAS OCCURRED. LATE SMOKEY QUARTZ AND FLUORAPATITE PARTLY FILL REMAINING OPEN SPACE. STRUCTURE SAID TO BE A MILE OR SO LONG. MOST AMETHYST CRYSTALS OCCUR AS SINGLES AND AS TERMINATIONS.

Comment (Deposit): Discovery Year: EARLY 1900'S?

Comment (Location): DEPOSIT IS IN A SADDLE OF THE FOUR PEAKS MOUNTAIN RANGE. LAND STATUS VALUE CALCULATED 7-94 USING GIS OVERLAY ANALYSIS WITH USFS LAND OWNERSHIP BOUNDARIES, 1:126,720 SCALE.

Comment (Development): MINING CLAIM PATENTED 1942 BY RUDOLF JUCHEM. ACQUIRED 1972 BY MARICOPA MINING CORP. CLAIM IS PATENTED.

Comment (Commodity): AMETHYST IS OF HIGHLY VARIABLE QUALITY AND COLOR.

Comment (Geology): QUARTZITE WAS FOLDED INTO A N50E SYNCLINE PRIOR TO INTRUSION OF GRANITE.
