Comments

Comment (Deposit): 3 PERIODS OF MINERALIZATION: THE OLDER (LATE CRET) AND MORE PRODUCTIVE ORE BODIES ARE AURIFEROUS SILVER-LEAD VEINS IN TOURMALINIZED AND SERICITIZED QUARTZ MONZONITE IN THE UPPER PART OF THE BATHOLITH. THE TERTIARY DEPOSITS ARE LOW GRADE AND CONSIST OF ALTERED RHYOLITE IMPREGNATED WITH AU ALONG SMALL FRACTURES. IN SEVERAL MINE DUMPS RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL HAS BEEN FOUND.

Comment (Workings): EXTENSIVE MINING HAS BEEN DONE IN THIS AREA - THIS IS A DESCRIPTION OF THE MOUNTAIN LEAD CO. MINE.

Comment (Geology): MORE THAN 100 QUARTZ VEINS ARE KNOWN IN THE DISTRICT. ALL THE VEINS ON THE W SIDE OF RED MOUNTAIN EXTEND NORTHWARD TO LEE MOUNTAIN-VALLEY FORGE ZONE. THE LEE MOUNTAIN-VALLEY FORGE SHEAR ZONE TRENDS N50-60E AND DIPS STEEPLY. IT CONSISTS OF FAULTS, VEINS, AND ALTERED ROCK ACROSS A WIDTH OF A FEW HUNDRED FEET, AND IT IS ABOUT 5 MILES LONG.

Comment (Deposit): A CONSIDERABLE PLACER DEPOSIT IS SAID TO REMAIN ON TRY AGAIN CREEK NEAR MOUNTAIN SUMMIT.

Comment (Location): SURROUNDING AREA IS OF HIGH RELIEF; NEAR CONTINENTAL DIVIDE

Comment (Reserve-Resource): BASED ON POSSIBLE OUTCROP AREA PROJECTED TO A DEPTH OF ONE-HALF ITS LENGTH

Comment (Location): INFO FROM LAND.ST :(1967)

Comment (Production): QUARTZ PEBBLE HAS BEEN PRODUCED.

Comment (Development): ECON.COM: GOOD MARKET IN PACIFIC NORTHWEST - RAIL RATES DETERMINING FACTOR

Comment (Geology): TACTITE INDICATES BURIED PLUTON - GRANITIC DIKE WITHIN 200 FT OF DEPOSIT

Comment (Reserve-Resource): BASED ON OUTCROPS THAT EXTEND ABOVE THE SURFACE

Comment (Production): TOTAL FOR ENTIRE PERIOD EST. $7,000,000. 1909-1928 = $584,000. AU = $314,000. OTHERS ABOVE

Comment (Development): MINES THAT HAVE:PRODUCED: AMERICAN FLAG, ARMSTRONG, BEATRICE, BUNKER HILL, DANIEL STANTON, EUREKA, EVERGREEN, FREE SPEECH, JOHNY, JUSTICE, LEE MOUNTAIN, LEXINGTON, LITTLE LILLY GROUP, LITTLE SAMPSON, MCCAWBER, MONTE CRISTO, NORTH PACIFIC PAUPERS DREAM, PEERLESS JENNIE, PORPHYRY DIKE, RED MOUNTAIN. ; ECON.COM: WATER FOR MILLING FEED THE DRAINAGE BASIN OF TENMILE CREEK (HELENA CITY WATER SUPPLY).
