MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comment (Deposit): LEAD KING WORKINGS AVERAGE STRIKE IS N50W, IN THE RED CLOUD THE STRIKE IS N70W AND THE DIP IS 25-35NE. 2 MAIN GROUPS OF ORE SHOOTS ABOUT 700 FT APART ON EACH SIDE OF THE CREEK. THE VEIN IS COMPOSED OF TWO OR MORE LAYERS SEPARATED BY THIN GREENISH-GRAY PARTINGS, AND EACH LAYER COMMONLY HAS A BANDED STRUCTURE. 3 NE FAULTS DIP STEEPLY NW AND EACH HAS SHIFTED THE VEIN N FROM 20-40 FT.
Comment (Workings): RED CLOUD VEIN DEVELOPED BY RED CLOUD, CRESCENT, AND LEAD KING MINES WHERE CUT BY FIRST CHANCE GULCH. SEVEN ADIT LEVELS WERE ON WEST SLOPE AND FOUR ADIT LEVELS AND INCLINE WERE ON EAST SLOPE. VEIN LIES ALONG A BEDDING PLANE.W. SLOPE OF GULCH IS THE LEAD KING AND CRESENT CLAIMS.
Comment (Deposit): RED CLOUD VEIN IS THE SOUTHERNMOST OF THREE VEIN SYSTEMS IN THE FIRST CHANCE DISTRICT. ON THIS PERSISTANT VEIN ARE THE ROBERT EMMET, FOURTH OF JULY, RED CLOUD, LEAD KING, AND CRESCENT MINES, NAMED IN ORDER FROM EAST TO WEST. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT
Comment (Reserve-Resource): DOWNWARD PROJECTION OF STRUCTURE INDICATES VEIN WOULD INTERSECT GRANODIORITE ABOUT 2000 FT DOWNDIP. IT IS ESTIMATED THAT VEIN HAS BEEN MINED FOR ABOUT 1000 FT DOWNDIP. SOME LOW GRADE ORE PROBABLY REMAINS IN THE UPPER PART OF THE VEIN. FOR THE UPPER THOUSAND FEET, ASSUMING 1 FT WIDE BY 1700 FT LONG GIVES ABOUT 150,000 ST OF ROCK OF WHICH AN ESTIMATED 100,000 ST HAS BEEN REMOVED. COPPER CONTENT INCREASED WITH DEPTH BUT A SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE WOULD STILL LEAVE COPPER AT LESS THAN 5 LB/ST. SELECTED PRIMARY ORE CONTAINED ABOUT 0.5 TOZ/ST AU.
